How much is Parental Leave Pay in Australia?

Government PPL is paid at the national minimum wage rate of $916.80 per week (before tax). As of July 2025, eligible parents can receive up to 22 weeks of PPL. This is significantly less than most professional salaries.

Who is eligible for Parental Leave Pay?

You must have worked at least 10 of the 13 months before the birth/adoption, worked at least 330 hours in that 10-month period, and have an individual income of $168,865 or less. Both parents can share the leave entitlement.
