How much tax do working holiday makers pay?

Working holiday makers on 417 or 462 visas pay 15% tax on the first $45,000 of income. Above $45,000, standard non-resident rates apply (30% up to $135,000). There is no tax-free threshold and no Medicare levy for WHMs.

Yes. If your employer withheld more tax than your actual liability (common if you worked for multiple employers), you can lodge a tax return and receive a refund. You should lodge a return before leaving Australia or appoint a tax agent to do it for you.
